A wind instrument made from a hollow branch, the
didgeridoo is a living link to our Neolithic past, in
continual use for 40,000 to 60,000 years. It dates
back three ice ages, to when Neanderthal man,
aurochs and mammoth still walked the earth.
Set in the beautiful Sonoran Desert, America's
Outback, this video introduces us to the exotic
sound of the didgeridoo. Our teacher is Allan
Shockley, who may be the only full-time
teacher and maker of didgeridoos in North America.
Clearly organized into four simple lessons, this video
is designed for the beginning didgeridoo player, and
has many tips that could help an experienced player.
Myth and ritual are discussed in depth. A special
section helps in finding and pricing the right
didgeridoo for your size and playing style.
